Whole blood immune monitoring with mass cytometry maps COVID-19 immune trajectory
Severe COVID-19 is characterized by dramatic immune system activation and inflammation. Studies to modulate the immune response and limit immunopathology are ongoing. Hear from Petter Brodin, MD, PhD, about new insights on the immune response from longitudinal immunomonitoring studies of COVID-19 patients in Sweden (Rodriguez, L. et al. 2020).
To better understand the natural course of severe COVID-19, his lab applied systems-level immune monitoring using CyTOF® to whole blood samples from 39 patients, who were sampled up to 12 times from admission through intensive care and recovery.
Watch the webinar to learn about:
- Co-regulated immune cell populations and coordinated changes in plasma proteins during severe COVID-19
- A previously unappreciated role of eosinophils during the course of disease
- The determinants of productive antibody responses
- A shared trajectory of immune recovery across patients
