POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

Fluidigm Corporation has an opening in South San Francisco, CA and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA for a Senior Field Service Engineer position.

 

Perform hardware and software trouble-shooting of instrumentation comprised of complex electrical and mechanical sub-systems, including CyTOF2, Helios, Hyperion Imaging System, BioMark/BioMarkHD, EP1 Reader, C1 Single Cell Auto-Prep System, and Juno.  Provide On-site installation, validation and commissioning of the CyTOF, CyTOF2, Helios, Hyperion Imaging System, BioMark/BioMarkHD, EP1 Reader, C1 Single Cell Auto-Prep System, and Juno. Provide high level hands-on on-site troubleshooting, service and repairs with CyTOF, CyTOF2, Helios, Hyperion Imaging System, BioMark/BioMarkHD, EP1 Reader, C1 Single Cell Auto-Prep System, and Juno systems at customers' sites.  Provide diagnostic and recovery services at customer’s sites, which could include the full gamut of the complex components of the CyTOF, CyTOF2, Helios, Hyperion Imaging System, BioMark/BioMarkHD, EP1 Reader, C1 Single Cell Auto-Prep System, and Juno systems, creating and implementing fixes for field and on-site customer service issues with automated life science laboratory instrumentation, utilizing root cause analysis and taking corrective action methodologies. Software solution troubleshooting, including Windows Operating Systems, Salesforce.com CRM, ServiceMax, Box.com.   Work with Service Operations, R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to generate product modifications for commercialized products. Generate Engineering Change Notices based on field performance data. Contribute, draft and set high-value service related procedures and documents, such as ISO relevant documents setting Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Control check lists and technical service instructions. Identify areas for product and process improvement and communicate these accordingly.  Train and assist end users in proper operation and maintenance procedures of CyTOF2, Helios, Hyperion Imaging System, BioMark/ BioMarkHD, EP1 Reader, C1 Single Cell Auto-Prep System, and Juno systems. Telecommuting permissible 100%. Travel Required 80%.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Management or related field and 2 years of experience in job offered or related occupation. Employer will accept 2 years post-secondary education and 2 years of related experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

 

 

2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:

 

  1. Employing electro-mechanical diagnostic and repair tools, including oscilloscopes, meters, gauges, and both coarse and fine hand tools.
  2. Supporting mass cytometers, or mass spectrometers, and micro-fluidic genomic instruments life sciences products and services.
  3. Performing hardware and software trouble-shooting of instrumentation comprised of complex electrical and mechanical sub-systems in life science industry.
  4. Troubleshooting complex sub-systems including optics, robotics, pneumatics, electrical circuitry, and high-vacuum systems.
  5. Working in biomedical laboratory environment.
  6. Utilizing root cause analysis and taking corrective action methodologies for both hardware and system control software.
  7. Resolving instrument hardware and software issues in high stress customer facing role.

 

All experience may be acquired concurrently.
