CD22, also known as Siglec-2 and BL-CAM, is a type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is primarily involved in regulation of B cell activation and serves as an adhesion molecule. CD22 is expressed in the cytoplasm of pro-B and pre-B cells and on the surface of mature B and activated B cells. It is not expressed on plasma cells.
