The FIB504 monoclonal antibody binds both to human integrin β7 and mouse integrin β7 subunit. Integrin β7 is a 130 kDa glycoprotein in the Ig superfamily that is also known as integrin βp. Integrin β7 associates with CD103 expressed on T cells adjacent to mucosal epithelium and intraepithelial lymphocytes and with CD49d expressed on subsets of lymphocytes and thymus. Integrin β7 has been reported to play a key role in the adhesion of leukocytes to endothelial cells, which stimulates the transmigration of leukocytes to extravascular spaces during inflammation.
