The monoclonal antibody M3-3D9 (SN1a) reacts specifically with the 150 kDa glycoprotein CD231. CD231 belongs to the transmembrane 4 superfamily (TM4SF). It is also known as T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia-associated antigen (TALLA or TALLA-1). CD231 is expressed on cells of skeletal muscle, brain, spleen, T cell type acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) cells. CD231 plays a role in integrin-mediated migration. However, its biological function has not been fully elucidated. There is evidence that CD231 can associate with phosphoinositide 4-kinase.
