CD7, also known as gp40, is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. CD7 is found on T cells, NK cells, thymocytes, hematopoietic progenitors, and monocytes (weakly). CD7 is also expressed on acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) and some acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells. It plays a role in T cell interactions and also in T cell/B cell interaction during early lymphoid development. CD7 co-stimulation can induce cytokine secretion and modulate cellular adhesion.
