CD226, also known as DNAM-1 (DNAX accessory molecule-1), is a 65 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the majority of T cells, NK cells, and monocytes and on a subset of B cells, but not on granulocytes or erythrocytes. CD226 functions as a tyrosine phosphorylated, signal-transducing molecule involved in primary adhesion during cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL)-mediated cytotoxicity.
